When they come up into the October night, she leads the way around toward a large abstract sculpture in black. There's a low stone ledge there, anchoring the railing around the entrance to the subway; it's wide enough to serve as a bench, and that's where she sits down.
It's not too cold out. Not cold enough to be uncomfortable for some time.
